Jim - Thanks for you response. This story indicates to me that there will be no significant slack in gasoline demand (US) unless gasoline prices rise to levels that are an order of magnitude higher than they are today. This supports, in a very real sense, what I have been saying all along:

Adjusted for inflation - gasoline is still very reasonable, hence, there will be minimal drop off in demand.
