Brokers shorting and selling long tech to switch assets to fund favorites. Another day of carnage may be ahead. The old line Funds are in a lot of trouble with redemptions because of poor performance and big NAZ gains. They gotta do it or it's massive sell off in the old economy stocks to pay redemptions. Everyday the news reports huge gains in tech this or tech that and the fund investors who don't follow the market are starting to wise up and look for better performance. It needs to be a gradual shift to NAZ hot stocks and it hasen't been. VL, Vlasic foods is down from 13 3/8 to 2 1/2. It's still a good company but who cares? There is zero growth in pickles, declining actually as salsa sales explode along with the hispanic population.
This sell off is all about changing the public perception to keep the money with the traditional brokers and away from the on-line trading systems. This is a desperate move by the houses. My REIT stocks are up today.
