Interesting comments, Babu. Thanks for pointing out the old/new spectrum distinction. As you may know, QCOM mgmt. has made statements and presentations suggesting a "CDMA overlay" for GSM (and/or TDMA?) networks. I forget the details, but believe it covers HDR at least, and recall comparisons showing better performance and cost-effectiveness vs. EDGE. Other than QCOM mgmt.'s statements, I haven't heard much from other parties (e.g., GSM carriers and infra makers) indicating that there is a real-world trend toward a CDMA overlay. In fact, the trend toward GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA seems to have gathered momentum since QCOM's statements going back at least to last September. Do you (or Tero) have a perspective on this?
