Japanese markets' vital signs for 1999

Nikkei 225 +42.4%
Jasdaq (800) +211%
Topix (1400) +56.9%

Even though the yen's increase in price added 8% to the Nikkei's growth in 1999, it is estimated that the Nikkei will appreciate by 30% in 2000.

Japan seems to be at the beginning of an economical growth cycle ... which will IMO attract a lot of attention from the US side. A 20 to 30% profit growth is expected in Asia compared to 10% for the US. We might be seeing a lot of assets being transferred from the US to Asia in the coming years.

Kind Regards
AK
