So we are to believe that the ace researchers in the Gel Tech labs have moved on to discover a cure for allergies after having discovered a cure for the common cold? Did they just discover this cure last week? Is that why they've rushed the product out with no apparent attempt to determine it's efficacy? Or have super secret clinical studies already been done?

Or maybe this is just another "me too" allergy medication which they'll be trying to market against the big boys. I don't like their chances if that's the case, but at least there's a chance the product will actually work as advertised.

"Q2 sales could be $8 million to $10 million because that's about what they did to fill the channel for Zicam cold remedy."

Exactly. They will channel stuff as before in order to give the impression that Ziscam Allergy Relief is flying off the shelves, just like they did with Ziscam.

Imagine how stupid all the big drug companies must feel now. Here they spend billions of dollars a year trying to come up with the next generation of drugs for societies diseases and here GUMM has proven that you can make money selling products that contain no active ingredients at all.

I will now come out with my own product. I shall call it "Hank's Cold and Allergy Relief". It will consist of an empty squirt bottle and the instructions will simply read- Fill with liquid. Squirt up nose every 20 minutes. Imagine the money I'll make.

Here's a VERY informative paragraph from GUMM's 424B1 filing on 3/13/00:

"The marketing of certain of our chewing gum and nasal gel products, including Zicam, involves claims that such products assist in weight loss, promote dental hygiene, and reduce the duration of the common cold, among others. Under FDA and FTC rules, we are required to obtain scientific data to
support any health claims we make concerning our products. Although we have not provided nor been requested to provide any scientific data to the FDA in support of claims regarding our products, we have obtained such scientific data for all
of our products. There can be no assurance that the scientific data we have obtained in support of such claims will be deemed acceptable to the FDA or FTC, should either agency request any such data in the future. If the FDA or the FTC requests any supporting information, and we are unable to provide support that is acceptable to the FDA or the FTC, either agency could force us to stop making the claims in question or restrict us from selling the affected products."

Don't be surprised if a request for documentation is made very soon. They can't hide behind the absense of published data forever.
