Ad blockers
Three weeks ago I installed Naviscope, an ad blocker that can be downloaded from CNET <g> among other sources.
The utility shows that to date I have blocked over 14,000 ads.
If I guess an average of only 3 seconds to download an ad on my 56K modem, I estimate I've saved over 11 hours of waiting while browsing during those three weeks. (And most of my time is spent on sites like SI, Yahoo Financial, CNET and other news sources).
Browsing is noticeably faster.
