Brokerage firm Morgan Stanley Dean Witter gave the semiconductor sector a boost when it put out a note forecasting better than
expected growth for the computer chip manufacturing industry. Shares in market leader Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM:INTC - news)
rose 7 1/2 to trade at 134 1/2. That helped drive the Philadelphia Stock Exchange Semiconductor index (^SOXX - news) up
