rudedog Re: AMD chose the better memory. Well, I am in violent agreement on that - RAMBUS has been a disaster. rudedog, I was by no means trying to insult your intelligence. You're a dELL investor and know far more about dELL than I do, even though I'm familier with the company. I spend probobly at least 20 hours a week following all the news on AMD. RAMBUST alone could be a huge problem for high end chips. The price is not worth the small gains. And how, exactly, will copper give this huge performance boost? I expect that copper will give the high speed parts enough efficiency that the heat dissipation will get into some sane range, as opposed to the popcorn-maker heat output of current 1 GHz parts... and that might mean that parts could be selected a little higher on the speed curve without causing nuclear meltdown. At the same time AMd is going to copper, they are adding on die cache. The heat. Oh well, it's marketing crap to get a little recognition. The pushed the chip by cranking up the voltage. They're banking on the copper dresdan chips which will begin shipping any day. On the other hand. Intel has to keep the PIII cooled to 60 degrees to keep it stable. What does this mean? The chip is on its last leg, it can't go any farther. This is very worrysome if you're expecting faster INTC chips in the next 6 months. A chip that you can crank up the voltage is better than a chip that needs to be supercooled. You can buy an 866 MHz PIII today from DELL Then what's this?dell.com I have been involved with AMD for 15 years and have heard the same crap year after year. This is why all of my money is tied up in AMD. Wall street has no faith in AMD, they look at a 15 year chart. Things are different this time. chic
