mr.mark, sorry about NSCP. I'm still working it trying a few more fixes from News Groups. e-mail only think bothering me at present. Can use old 486 to send if needed.

I did D/Load GO BACK last evening to the 486, configured it and looks like it will do as advertised. Appears to set aside about 1/3 of your HDD free space, mirrows every thing and I mean every thing, and should you get in trouble just scroll back in the mirrow page to just before problems occured and Start from there again. Gotta' read more in ReadMe files tho'.

sillydog.webhanger.com,

A url to go to and find Archived files/OS systems/ almost anything. Thinking about D/Loading the original NSCP ver. 1.01 and going from there. It worked good about 10 years ago<G>.

Regards, /jw

ps; SI seems slow to me this AM.

mr.mark, partial success I hope. Not wanting to Uninstall/Reinstall yet I decided to create another profile. First time so it was a little tricky. My first profile name user1, second profile james. Now when I log onto Communicator I have choice of either to log onto.

Close Communicator,
START|PROGRAMS|NETSCAPE COMMUNICATOR|UTILITIES|USER PROFILE MANAGER, now click on NEW, it will ask for a name and go thru' the process. When finished log onto new profile, EDIT|PREFERENCES, and enter all the configurations exactly as first profile. Then you may be in business.

I made a small error in entering something and it wiped out my password, called ISP they gave me a new one, now same password works in either profile. Have transferred Bookmarks to new profile, now will try & get address book imported. Have used e-mail, send/receive in new one and everything works<G>. When everything is transferred & sure it's ok, can delete first profile if I want. Then next chaos issue can create another and name my original one. This will be easier than reinstall once I get the hang of things.

Loaded GO BACK and have 10 days on demo. If I don't buy, it will self DESTRUCT.

If I can help further gimme' a buzz'

Regards, /jw

ps: have a small Print Key program that prints SCREEN. Clicked on all the config. in EDIT|PREF and hit PRINT SCREEN rather than write them, faster and more accurate.

geocities.com, Print Screen program. I have the earlier VER.4.0 (free).

mr.mark, perhaps this will explain it better than I did. Maybe the solution is to Create a few Profiles, EENIE,MEENIE,MINNIE and MO then when one crashes switch. Seems it would be easier to teach oneself how to transfer address books, bookmarks, etc: rather than spend time chasing down all those Illegal Faults. Picked this from a News Group.

help.netscape.com

One or more of my profiles causes Netscape to crash.

Solution:

If you experience problems with a certain profile or several different profiles, there is most likely some corruption in the user files. You need to create a new profile in order to resolve this issue. To do this:

1.Shut down Communicator.
2.Go to the Start menu and choose Programs,Netscape,Utilities, User Profile Manager.
3.Create a new profile for yourself using all of the information from your old profile (i.e. Mail server settings), making sure to name the profile something different so that it doesn't overwrite your old profile.
4.Check to make sure that the profile is working. If it is, shut down Communicator.
5.Open Explorer and go to your User directory at: C:\Program
Files\Netscape\Users\.
6.Find the old profile name, and copy the Mail folder, the News folder, the bookmark.htm file, the abook.nab file, and any .na2 files into the new profile directory.
7.Check to make sure that everything is working and go back to the User Profile Manager to delete your old profile.
