rudedog Re: If DELL built a strong consumer business, there might be more pressure to go to an AMD chip

rudedog,
You don't think there will be pressure to see AMD in the business market?

Take this example. A company needs 1000 computers, all high end, with at least 256 MB of Ram. I'm sure DELL takes these orders on a daily basis. The RAMBUST alone will add $100,000 to the order before you even start to look at the other components. You'd be looking at a total order of $350,000 compared to $250,000 (roughly). That's a huge difference.

DELL has shown only moderate interest in the consumer market

I thought dELL was big in the consumer market. I bought one of their notebooks a few years ago. Now I build my own computers.

BTW- I haven't sold all of my dELL to buy AMD, I kept 100 shares.
