That's a good question. It is always raised whenever there is a spin-off similar to the GMCH spin-off and everyone debates it without there ever being a definitive answer. People seem to get one answer from the company and a different answer from their brokers.

Based upon my experience, if I bought the shares by the deadline I got the spin-off. However, in this case, regardless, I'm considering the spin-off as a bonus and if the price goes up enough I may sell anyhow.

Good question though . . .
