Interesting comments thank you. As far as response time for users are they identical based on the line speed or does one have advantages over the other?

The logic is impeccable. But there are many a slip between
the cup and the lip. At one time, people had written off
mainframes too.

I had been on the other side of the fence, spreading the
gospel of the webcentric computing. Who cares where the
server runs or what it runs. We had exactly one product,
a website.

FWIW, our experience with web has been quite different.
The UI is very poor. Development costs are not any lower.
Low control over the presentation. HTTP is essentially a
stateless protocol, something business apps were not very
good at. For apps not designed for web from ground up,
life can be pretty harsh.

I suppose the grass always looks greener on the other side.
There is always some truth in it, but web/browser/html is not a nirvana.
