Re:Packetized Voice- MSOs and ILECs. How they going to do it?

"I just see a vested interested by the MSOs to push the IP platform rather than the ATM platform."

lml- But I think the MSOs are already heavily entrenched in ATM networks. At least I thought they were. So it wouldn't make sense to go the all IP route. So for that reason and the QoS issue, seems like ATM may be the ticket. IP/ATM. I see it's exactly what Denver just mentioned.

Regarding Net2Phone. I have no idea how it works, or if it's possible, but I can't imagine T unleashing a pure VoIP system onto it's customer. It would do some serious damage to their reputation. It's not ready and won't be for years.

So I'm wondering if T can introduce Net2Phone's IP system to ATM? I have to read Denver's post again because I think the answer is in there. I just have to figure it out. Maybe once I figure out everything Denver wrote, I might come close to understanding the Net2Phone plans. Right now I just don't know anything about Net2Phone,except that it appears to drop right into this topic.

Also, don't forget, T has Teleport too for local phone. At least I think it's local? I have to look that up again. I'm not sure how that may play into the Net2Phone purchase. But it may be significant because I thought it was a twisted pair network.

I'm glad you brought up the migration topic. It's a very interesting one to ponder. Everyone knows packet voice is coming, but few are talking about it much. At least openly.

Maybe an investing idea or two will come of this and we'll be ahead of the pack(et). Hey it's Friday.<g> -MikeM(From Florida)
