Check this out, it fairly completes the "cross-pollenation" of the market. We have listed stocks traded on exchanges, and OTC issues traded in a dealer-driven, noncentral marketplace. However, one can trade a listed stock on an OTC basis (third mkt) and an OTC stock on an exchange (UTP), however rare the latter is.

Recently, the non-exchange, limit order books, the ECN's - used on an almost exclusively OTC basis - have found their way into exchange-dominated ITS. Looks like there's now a counterpart to this, too: there is apparently an electronic auction market modeled after the exchange-style post nearing completion, geared for trading OTC issues as well as listed ones.
