Re: "I think it would make sense for AMD to sell dELL a batch of 100,000 processors at a loss. They need to get their foot in the door. Once they're in, they can work for more favorable deals."

Comment: Disagree...Dell needs AMD more than AMD needs Dell at the moment.Dell is feeling the processor supply pinch owing to the limitations in haveing only one supplier (particularly one experiencing production problems above 733 MHz, where Dell needs to be present to be successful (as in T-Bird)), while AMD is selling all the Athlons it can currently produce, imho, without Dell..AMD has made it quite clear by their withdrawal from the Xbox contest that they are not interested in "scorched-earth" pricing of Athlon-based products...They should not and will not set any scorched-earth pricing precedent with Dell...Dell needs the T-Bird down the road to fill the currently replete niche above 733 MHz with a reasonably priced "all-in" system...The Spitfire is the first step in achieving that goal...AMD not Dell holds the trump cards on this one!
