Thanks for your post. Now in reference to why I think they are behind schedule besides all the hemming and hawing I'm observing out here in the "field" Is this not the correct assumption that started this thread post???Started By: Mark Lewin Date: Jan 20, 1998 11:21 AM this thread is to discuss Level 3 communications, a new company with plans to build and light a 20,000-mile state-of-the-art fiber optic network in the U.S. by the end of 1999. company info can be found at l3.com . mark Now regards your other thoughtful points: 1) MFS "group" has some history and impressive history at that. You are conceding that the "Gov't has these [moguls] in their sights." Not a happy prospect for cost containment. Now they've added "environmental/BLM irritation to the mixture. You've made this point for me. Thank you. 2) Again you mention management, MFS style: and Everyone knows ole Bill and DOJ are squared off already and he's been whupped once. And Warren's Phibro skirts are far from clean with the Govt boys, especially since he tried to help corner the Silver Market here about oh, 3 years ago. Then Add Warren's recent NY Fed Reserve Rebuff of his takeover of LDMA...well, two dirty skirts do not inspire confidence in THIS due dilly dude. 3) RE: conduit, aka "tubes" in the ground, you have NO clue as to how flimsy what they are putting in to do the "years and years" of service hopes and dreams are. I can't begin to tell you how much of these tubes have been damaged by ordinary farming/cattle ranching operations out here in the canyon. Such raw material "conduit" short-sightedness Reminds me of pennywise/pound foolish corner cutting operation that is underfunded frankly burying McDonald's drinking straws instead of C-PVC or ABS type product that has some wall rigidity and durability. These conduits things are a joke. They have to be flimsy to fit around these big spools they're dragging all over the countryside. And my rat terrier could dig them up as they are only about 18" into the ground. You done any plowing or springtoothing lately with an John Deere 8020?<g> 4) While I concede your point #4 has some real merit, I'd rather the hot air get out of the "construction/cash burning phase" of this stock and it get done and the bottom line known. An all fibre carrier somewhere out in the future, owned by someone who keeps losing to the govt who has now royally p/o'ed the govt' and the environmentalist set has a hell of a long way to go in my books. That's just too much blue sky/by and by/on the come for me to get excited about such ridiculous valuations. Now, explain to me why ole Crow is selling 40,000 shares a month and has been since day one almost if this is such a good deal? They passing the hat at the office to help bring in this project? At a cool $4mil a month, direct or indirectly on TOP of his compensation package, he's surely good for a buck or two in the communal hat, right?<g> Looking forward to your good humored reply.
