Clappy the Mathematician. I was looking over my portfolio this morning and I took out my calculator to do some heavy calculatin'. In the beginning of March, my accounts had more than doubled to over 100% since the start of the new year. This was due to a few lucky trades like SCON, along with my long term purchase of CRA and additional RMTR shares. <Clappy presses a few buttons on his calculator which helps him see that a 100% gain of a small number is equal to that number, multiplied by 2.> In the past 3 weeks or so, this same account has come sliding way back down to just above the small number I started the year off with. Here is where the math gets a little tricky... <Clappy presses more buttons which helps him see that if he takes .5 or the fraction "1/2" and multiplies it by the larger number his account was at 3 weeks ago, he see's that he is now at a 50% loss this short time.> So now I realize I had gained a total of 100%, but then lost 50%. I'm left with the same amount of money I started with . HOWEVER! I am still 50% ahead of the game!!! <Clappy presses 100% - 50% = 50% just to recheck his math.> So, you see, I am still better off than I original started with!!! <Polvo grabs the calculator to check the simpleton's math. He nods in agreement that it appears to be correct. Polvo then gets caught up in searching for the battery compartment of Clappy's Solar Powered Calculator. The porch members stare at Polvo as he giggles in amazement each time the display goes blank as he covers up the photocells. Using motherly instincts, Dealer walks over and takes away the toy before it get's broken...> Anyhow, I feel much better now that I'm up over 50% even though I'm back to the same original amount of money I started the year with. The way I figure it, If I can do this 3 or 4 more times this year, I'll be up almost...ehh...150% - 200% ! Now That Is Stress Free Investing!!! -Clapernicus P.S. I guess the extra 50% is returned to me in experience. Either that or the Fed sends me a check for it... :^) HeeHaw!!! Enjoy your weekend folks! Spend some of that money on yourselves and your loved ones. Now that's a good investment. Talk to y'all later.
