Barrons article is an interim term positive for EMC but long term negative IMO if Veritas develops storage which is cheaper than EMC and makes more aliances with big companies like HP and SUNW to utilize their vision of a storage software "layer".

Did this article state that they already have such a software layer?

Dear John: One of the key words in that Barrons article was Reliability. In the market EMC plays to I have to believe that ranks FIRST in executive considerations when thinking of storage or any computing needs. Reading what you printed about Veritas, seems to me, down the road there could be an acquisition in store rather than a collision. If they get into head to head competition and the product is similar, I would think price would be the deciding factor and thus BOTH would lose margin, not something I would think either would want.
