MB; re: <Are you saying you would have read the ads, or are you saying the time it took to download them would ad to your online time?>
The time to download would have added to my on-line time. (Never read them). <g>
I don't think many people realize how much time is spent downloading ad's.
And it's amazing how many ad's can occur on a page.
Part of the problem is that the ad's aren't resident on the site, they need to go off-site to ad servers to get them. And some of the fancy ones, (for example animated gif files), take quite a while to download. (And during high traffic times the ad servers can get really slow).
The 45 minutes I spent reading the morning newspaper was much more productive.
Simple URL's, easy to navigate and with dynamic ad blocking. <g>
If you didn't read my earlier post you might find it interesting.

MB, A litle more on ad blocking
To give an example, I went to the InfoWorld site.
Downloading the home page with the Ad blocker enabled took 8 seconds. Without the Ad blocker 28 seconds. (And any article I clicked on took to me to a page with more ad's). <g>
I looked at the home page source and there were six URL's to the Doubleclick Ad server.
With Naviscope invoked the URL's were replaced with Begin/End Naviscope Ad Blocker.
Ad blocking has the same effect as a faster Internet connection. <VBG>
BTW, the ad's are replaced by a light blue box of the same size as the ad. If you want to view an ad with the blocker on, holding the cursor over the ad for 1 second downloads it.
