After a few days of no new contributions on the idea of a summer or fall meeting, here's where I think we are. There were a total of 11 people who either expressed some interest or whom I had some other reason to believe were interested in coming up with a meeting. This isn't a lot, at best, and suggests that anything we do can be pretty informal, i.e., no big need to book a separate room for 30 at a restaurant, for example.

Out of the 11, some had a preference for a non-West Coast venue. While some would happily go whereever and might well go to several such get togethers, it seems like the dominant focus is the West Coast, preferably in the area so that some kind of activity -- shareholder's meeting, site visit, whatever -- could happen at the same time. Similarly, while some would meet at any time and there was some interest in the summer weather-wise, it seems to me that the strongest turnout is likely to be if it is done in association with the shareholder's meeting. However, it sounds as if the East Coast contingent may just do its own thing in the meantime, possibly in addition.

So, my suggestion is that we table the idea of whipping together a bigger meeting until it gets close to the shareholder's meeting and then see what kind of interest we can drum up at that point and what we can set up with Sun. in the meantime, if folks feel like getting together in smaller groups, they are obviously free to do so!
