Looks like Auric is the designated ELON short! Wondering why he hasn't been frequenting the INSP thread as it's been infested with shorts for the last few weeks. I've had my share of surfing in shark infested waters so Auric won't have any affect on my investment decisions. Found this bit of info on the G&K thread:TORNADO WATCH IN HOME NETWORKING The question for me as a GGamer: will a tornado form in the home networking arena? Earnings announcement expected April 20, 2000. OSGI's coming out party will be held in San Diego, May 3-5. It will be interesting to see what unfolds for Echelon's earnings and value chain over the coming months. I am on Tornado Watch per the RFM at pages 152-155. These are my assumptions. 1. Echelon has crossed the chasm and has knocked down the bowling pin in building automation. "Winning the beachhead, knocking over the head pin, creates a dynamic of follow-on adoption, opening up new market opportunities, in part from leveraging a solution from one niche to another..." (Revised ed. Crossing the Chasm, p. 77) 2. Echelon's domain of "product architecture" is where the gorillas live They are currently forging an extensive value chain in home networking. 3. Several links in this home networking value chain are current and likely members (their ranks are growing) of the OSGi, who will deliver services to the consumer through Service Gateways. 4. In addition, Echelon is participating in several home automation standards initiatives and claims that "the LonWorks solution complements most, if not all of these separate efforts." According to Crossing the Chasm, "When markets go mass, platforms have the advantage. Because they can participate openly in many value chains at the same time, they can be taken up in multiple segments simultaneously....These are the huge wins in high tech. Just understand, they are also the hardest types of technology to get across the chasm." (p.86) What I'm watching and waiting for: any and all news that confirms the strengthening of Echelon's value chain. Janet Steve
