Yep, using a straddle would have been a better strategy. I thought about it but went with some calls; some times it does not pay to be overly greedy.

The NY Times report that the States were taking a much harder line than the DOJ and noted that judge Posner did not congratulate the efforts of the States. I have seen no speculation as to WHY the states are taking a harder line and even why they have incurred high expenses to enter a legal case already represented by the DOJ. Is it possible that they are representing competitors to MSFT and even, heaven forbid, encouraged in their op[position by generous campaign contribuitions? I am only speculating.

What exactly is the States beef with Microsoft? How have the states been harmed?
This is looking more like a money grab all the time.

I'll bet the DOJ was using the coersion card against MSFT saying, hey if you don't give us what we want, we'll throw you to the dogs...er states.
