I bought SEG just recently because of the value in the SEG holdings, plus the potential of SEG itself. If this deal goes through, it will be like trading a bird in the hand (SEG) for a bird in the bush(VRTS).

For anyone who has faith in Luczo's honesty, remember that $4 or $8 billion in loot is enough to corrupt almost anyone. He's being surrounded by other investors and management who benefit greatly by convincing him that this LBO is OK. As an investment banker, its a safe bet that if he ever had integrity, it was sold out long ago.
Note that SEG said basically the whole managemnet team would stay in place. I'm sure the potential rewards are huge. I would guess hundreds of millions to Luczo alone.
In today's environment of extreme wealth in Silicon Valley, he probably believes hes deserves to be as well compensated as the kids who started the internet high fliers. The difference is they got there by being very lucky and you can't begrudge that. Luczo's trying to get there through perhaps the greatest corporate heist ever. And that just ain't right. This makes Miliken, the world's greatest white collar criminal ever, look like a petty amatuer. -Z
