Give me a break. Elian's father doesn't want the kid back. Any father that wouldn't bother to travel 90 miles to a vacation paradise, to get his child back, isn't a very caring father. Elian was fished out of the ocean after witnessing his mother's death, and after two days without food or water in a flimsy rubber-tube.

Elian's father just said, "Oh well", and stayed in Cuba sucking down the beers, chasing tail and sucking up to Fidel, while his son might have been dying of organ failure.

No wonder why Elian is not asking for his "dad".
