Koan,

The average crustal abundance is interesting, yet it tells us very little about where these elements are concentrated in economic quantities. If you look at where PGM "ore" is on the planet, you come up with very few deposits. If you look where gold "ore" is, you will see there are very many deposits. The PFN- River Valley situation is very interesting, but they are far from having proven that what they are sitting on is "ore". It's a beautiful speculation though with some good promotion coming up.

Bruce

The relative rarity of PGE orebodies compared with gold orebodies is the result of the different geochemical behaviour of PGEs compared with gold. And gold can be concentrated and reworked several times, whereas this is much rarer for PGEs.
