I am a long term investor, and have never seriously considered using margin. Hopefully MSFT will never drop below my overall cost basis, and will continue to provide market-beating returns (even if it doesn't this year). They certainly have excellent business momentum, even now.

On another topic, I suppose that certain corporate actions are currently not allowed by MSFT. E.g., would it be legal for them to spin off the OS development as an IPO? Then they could wisely implement their supposed offer to permit third party feature/application integration, and of course work closely with the "rest" of Microsoft as appropriate...
