RE: "My brother-in-law bought a computer and it came pre-installed (some would therefore say it was "free") with Lotus Suite. There's also some Corel Office I've seen on shelves. I've never actually seen anyone buy a copy, but hey, that's the market talking."

I noticed that you said "that's the market talking", not "that's the free market talking."

Intentional oversight? Or blinded by being a MSFT shareholder?

What do you mean?! I bought a copy of Corel Office for $30, because it had a mail-in rebate of $30. I have since used the product to cut out the bar-code to send it in for the mail-in rebate. After that, the box has done an incredibly good job of bending my hardwood shelf into a perfect convex shape. On occassion, it sparks dialogue between the wife and I with her reminding me that I am an incorrigible packrat. Little does she know that this is a great scientific experiment of mine to measure how long it takes shrink wrap to turn yellow.
