(COMTEX) B: Cisco CTO Resigns

Apr 03, 2000 (Tech Web - CMP via COMTEX) -- Cisco Systems chief technology
officer Judith Estrin is leaving the networking company after two years.

Estrin said she will resign April 28 and launch an Internet technology company
with her husband Bill Carrico.

"I just really prefer to be a CEO and an entrepreneur," she said. "It was
certainly a hard decision, but one that I chose to make."

Michelangelo Volpi will take over many of Estrin's tasks as chief strategy
officer. Volpi's responsibilities will include supervising new technology
adoption and overseeing Cisco's legal and governmental affairs. Volpi has been
responsible for Cisco's acquisition and investment strategy as executive vice
president of business development.

Estrin came to San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco (stock: CSCO) when the networking
company acquired multimedia networking software developer Precept Software,
which she co-founded with Carrico.

Estrin was involved in developing Cisco's New World data, voice, and video
strategy.

Estrin and Carrico also founded computer terminal maker Networking Computing
Devices and router maker Bridge Communications, which was bought by 3Com, Santa
Clara, Calif.
