Hi Doc,

I got a margin call this morning.....we got time....This morning I sold the stock and bought August calls made a little money to spare for margin call....Market continues the blood bath...now I'm in deep dodo again!!! Not answering the phone no mo!!!!!!!!

Turned off CNBC this morning and turned on some fantastic music..by "Celine" much nicer........

I feel for ya, David.

I'm in the same position with either selling the stock or selling further out. Just talked with the broker, who said I had until 3:00 tomorrow to clear things up. I have decided to take my chances until then. I have a month and strike price planned to sell if need be.

i'm going to carefully ponder your situation.

...until someone with more experience and brains answers your post. then i will concur with them.

FWIW - sometimes i have sold to satisfy margin too soon. and sometimes i have ignored it down to the wire till the brokerage sold something. the latter has worked better in the long run and saved me alot more - because there were several margin calls that became moot before the three day deadline. i never had the option of selling calls on my stock till now. i still have some breathing room but it pains me to see so many getting margin calls.
