Rande,

I thought that stock buybacks were not allowed beyond 3:30 pm., which means that someone else is doing the buying; or is that selling?

That is unbelievable. Would someone be privy to the ruling?
All trades at 90 3/4.

What a wild and mostly negative day. Dow 300 up, Naz 300 down. The weird thing is that tomorrow could be the opposite, though not as drastic. Looking at it closely though only the high-fliers were hit hard. The higher they flew the harder they were hit. And some without support (young growth without earnings and fundamentals) just got knocked down another notch into the dirt. Rande is right, diversify. But in this kind of market that would only leave you even. gg But at least not down. Stock-picking will be the only way now. With an eye on fundamentals and ovrsold situations. Getting out on nice pops too.

The good news is that this one-day tech correction may clear the air. No more bubble. For instance a CMGI at 100 is IMO fairly valued, even undervalued. And that's been a major high-flier until recently when the bio-techs, wireless, SOX and fibre-optic companies (excluding the leader Lucent) all flew too high too fast. Congrats to those who got out near the top. because there is no more top now. Everything that flew has landed back down to earth. Pretty soon some of them will be value stocks.

Just my ruminations. I survived though fully loaded with stocks. My value stocks kept me afloat. Huge news for IBM today by the way. They have the newest fastest chip. Look out Intel. Looking for a period of calm now. Shell-shock is more like it. Hopefully the best ones will rise in coming weeks. I'm getting out April 14th when I'm going to Europe for a month. the day of the Alta Vista IPO. And hopefully go out on an up-note. Though that is also tax day. Ugh. On the bright side, this correction has taken out some of the potential May sell-off pressure. Just have to see. Hanging in there. Hope you guys are too. Plenty of bargains around for the bold. Follow your gut and don't bet the farm.
