Hoyastupid, you can't answer any my questions because to do so would mean that you'd have to admit your wrong. Netscape is simply a portal for AOL, nothing more thanks to MSFT's predatory actions. If you think otherwise, go buy some stock in Real Networks. In a year from now, let's see if the company is still independently owned.

Atlas Shrugged? That's like Rush Limbaugh on Acid! --- What's the problem here? We've got a garden variety robber baron stifling innovation. Why weren't you concerned with the Sherman Act *before all of this stuff? --- I'll tell you something else; M$ actually is of a mindset where they use Copyright law (the version they lobbied to create) in defense of their breaking other law. Do the people who are supporting M$ and waving the American flag realize that this nation was founded in part as a reaction *against* monopolies controlling intellectual property?? Don't read Atlas Shrugged. Read American history. -JCJ

Good point, hoya: the purpose of a monopoly is to, in essence, corner the market, so there are no competitors, so you can raise prices to whatever level you want. We have anti-trust laws where the Government will step in to break up a monopoly if one comes to exist. Has Microsoft achieved a monopoly? It doesn't appear so to me. Is trying to garner as much market share as you can illegal? I'm not a lawyer, I don't know. But clearly Microsoft failed to achieve anything close to a monopoly. It's scrambling to keep what is has at present in the face of technology that's advancing more quickly than it can react to the advances.

Netscape's founders were foolish to think they could stand all alone and beat a huge established firm like Microsoft. Just as many of today's new internet companies are foolish to think they're really going to own their markets in the face of slower moving but better funded old giants, who are starting to realize that indeed the internet is where the future lies.
