Fred, I disagree completely with the judge's conclusions and his previous findings. Also, I believe that the appeals process will prove him wrong. However, in the mean time, we have a chance to discuss what should be done about Microsoft. Do you have any remedies ?

P.S. Also, the verdict in the OJ trial was clear. He was not guilty. Just because a court concludes something doesn't mean fair minded people can't disagree.

LOL!! Fred--- Jackson has a chance of seeing the majority of his decision being taken away during appeals. All in all this is just the beginning. What many are believing is msft has no money and will stop making money today,, this is still a mkt leader. Those that are lost in technology are believing Linux/Unix will have a huge impact on msft. They will have some, esp in the server mkt where there is a strong IS/IT staff but the world will continue to run on Windows. There will always be those like me that find Netscape a more comfortable browser,, but browsers have no impact on business or applications,, use Corel, PeachTree, or any other and you are not on the same page as the rest of the world. There are standards-- not always the best IS THE standard but ... do you use the metric system? Do you follow your finances by the Canadian Dollar or Yen? Still using the same AAPL used in high school? Standards cannot be legislated away --- the laws did not eliminate booze during prohibition,, and Hanet still has to sneak up on a mirror,, just the way things are...

As a UK investor in Microsoft, it appears that the Judges decision has spooked the whole NASDAQ. If this turns out to be more than a short term blip then I suspect that the Democrats could pay a heavy political price in the coming elections. Direct investment in stocks is significantly higher in the US than over here but holders of mutual funds and pension plans could also be severely hit. If this proves to be a significant fall and recovery is slow then the Republicans could well gain the benefit.

From my own view, I am not too bothered about where the stock is going tomorrow, next week or next year. I'm holding for at least 5 years and have a gut feeling that the stock will be significantly higher then than now. Regardless of the final outcome of the DOJ case.

Pete
