Jim,

I suspect that K7 was "just about ready" for production in January last year. Unfortunately, the last few issues generally require a lot of time.

Hello Jim,

Re: Crazy thing is that Crazyoldman? has an Athlon marked March '99.

You bet I do, in fact I have three 700 Mhz Athlons whose date codes indicate they were made during the 9th week of 1999!

Re: Wouldn't those wafers be started in January 99'?

Yep, or perhaps in December 1998! I read somewhere that it took about 10 weeks from wafer to finished die.

BTW, those three Athlons still amaze me!!! I watched AMD set a new all time high using one of them this afternoon!!!
Each and every one of those machines is very stable, very fast, and very SMOOTH! Absolutely no BSODs! And each puts in a full day of work.

I also use a 400 MHz Celery and it had another hang up at shutdown tonight. That happens more often than not. I've never had that happen with the Athlons, I'll leave it to the readers of this message to figure it out.

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
