Welcome to the thread Milkman. I very much appreciate your thoughtful and considerate comments. You obviously have real technical insight into the fiber optics industry, which has been something woefully lacking in the conversation thus far. I had earlier questioned Andy's presumption that the Corning low dispersion cable (he keeps harping on) will make any filtering device, such as AVNX's, obsolete with the same reality you pose, which is that the enormous installed base of older fiber will need to be maintained and serviced for a while longer--perhaps many years--until it is replaced, even if Andy's dubious claims about the potential for AVNX's PowerFilter obsolescence were true, which I doubt them to be, and which you seem to have serious reservations about. I wonder if you would be so good as to put your question about AVNX's device and the newer fibers to management or IR. I'd do it myself but I'm afraid that in my technical ignorance I wouldn't understand the answer fully or know what additional questions to ask. Phone: (510) 897-4188 Fax: (510) 897-4189 I have called IR. They tend to be busy but return messages left on their answering machine usually within the hour. Incidently they told me that demand for the PowerFilter has been outstanding, both in new commercial sized orders and in smaller orders by potential customers interested in testing the equipment for their system. IR also expressed great enthusiasm for the PowerMux product given the level of interest it has received from interested potential customers. IR expressed that the PowerMux is a breakthrough product addressing a truly substantial market for which there has been no solution. Clarification of customer growth and the progression of their product development, I am told, will come with subsequent quarterly reports and the 10-K. I hope that you'll return and contribute more to our discussion.
