Umm. Where will they go? Most of these high fliers that would be attracting top software talent have seen their stocks crushed FAR worse than MSFT. So they can't play the stock option game.

And many of these competitors can't afford to offer big salaries. Meanwhile MSFT has tons and tons of cash.

So your premise doesn't hold much water.
