Fun-da-Mental#1: We now have people on this thread saying (in effect) that market direction doesn't matter anyway, it's all a question of picking the right stocks. I've been having that thought myself. We've got a bad case of market direction fatigue.

FdM: It has always been about doing both. The safer plays are always finding stocks that are moving with the market. As we all know, in down drafts or up drafts often some stocks are swept along. It always pays to be aware of the over all market direction. However, it is no substitute for doing due diligence on individual issues or other investment vehicles.

Regards,
LG

PS: Volatility is often associated with tops! I suspect after the mother of all bull markets the top will be the mother of volatility maybe with divergences previously not seen...<g>

Complacency..

The market is always right, we've seen a lot of "crash stocks" here lately.. MSTR, EMLX, HAUP, they're everywhere, and then some that never ran (ie: e-broker stocks).. I think this year will run a different pattern from the past 2, since we have so many stocks to choose from now, not all run in unison this time around.. Lots of sector rotation!

There's a bubble for sure in the heavy-weighted index stocks, likewise value plays exist everywhere.. Dow, S&P even Nasdaq.. So while the Players and MMs exit their large-caps to short, pay taxes, go on vacations, etc, the little guy will stay on-board the casino and play those dips and value stocks.. The market isn't just for the elite anymore, the rules are changing, why worry with all the volatility unless you're on margin.. If you don't like the weather, wait awhile, it'll change.. Crashes are opportunities to buy low.. Fear is part of the excitement!

So while the market is a reflection of the economy, the realities of the economy have not yet been reflected in the operation of those companies.. Until then, "The Armageddon" is merely a cry for a buy-in at the bottom of a wave 5 correction prior to next take-off!

Buy Lo (oversold), Sell Hi (overbot).. Make $$
