Jim McM, re:<...difference between Microsoft and Intel ...>

Grove and Co. know where the line is and don't cross it.

Gates and Co. either didn't know or didn't care.

PS: why else does AMD live and sort of thrive? <G>

Waco (an offshoot of your now famous - "WACO IN WALL STREET...) and her hounds had been sniffing around
Sta. Clara.

But, as Ibexx once said - we dodged ze bullit, no?

Jim, Re: The DOJ hasn't got around to Intel yet.

Will they charge Intel for monopoly practice of tieing
its inferior FP unit with Pentium ? The Athlon one should
be allowed instead :-)

Jim, <You know what the big difference between Microsoft and Intel is don't you? The DOJ hasn't got around to Intel yet.>

Let's face it, part of the reason why the government (both Fed and State) want so much blood right now is because Microsoft pretty much provoked them by violating the spirit of their original settlement. The convenient lapses of memory that Bill Gates experienced during his video testimony, along with the "fake" browser demonstration, sure didn't help matters any.

By the way, did you see Bill Gates on TV responding to the breakdown in settlement talks? I could have sworn he took lessons from the other Slick Willie himself (President Zippergate). The slight turn of his head, his facial expressions, his eyes ... Man, it's as if Bill Gates and Bill Clinton were related somehow. Now THAT'S eerie.

Jim-

So AMD is not a serious enough competitor to ward off DOJ action vs Intel? You surprise me.
