Vsoft Offers Customers Video Distribution and Management With Bandwidth Scalability Starting At Dialup Speeds -- Integrated Solution to Debut at NAB 2000 Show
CHELMSFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 2000--Vsoft today announced that it is working with technology from RealNetworks©, Inc. (NASDAQ: RNWK - news) to provide customers sophisticated video management and collaboration capabilities that scale from narrowband through broadband. Vsoft's use of RealNetworks' technology now allows RealVideo© users to use Vsoft's VideoClick(TM) to share and work with video across the Internet, via a secure corporate network, or even via the new Web television technologies. Content producers who deploy video, such as RealNetworks' RealVideo G2, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, will now be able to collaboratively work together. VideoClick provides innovative solutions for digital video collaboration, distribution and management.

``The rapid acceleration and broadband opportunities in streaming media have spurred the growth of enormous quantities of RealVideo content and created wholly new opportunities for partners,' said Ben Rotholtz, general manager, Systems and Tools, RealNetworks, Inc. ``Through the cross-platform, standards based extensibility of RealSystem G2, Vsoft has delivered a compelling solution for content creators to optimize and shorten production cycles by providing effective workflow and management tools.'

``RealNetworks and Vsoft now offer video content providers and home viewers alike with unprecedented video quality and features, regardless of network speed or bandwidth limitations,' said Meir Friedlander, President and CEO of Vsoft Ltd. ``RealNetworks is the recognized market leader in streaming media from narrowband through broadband solutions and by leveraging the strength of RealSystem G2's extensibility, Vsoft has applied its inherent strength in streaming and management of MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video to an entirely broader market. RealNetworks' media content producers will benefit from the ability to include collaborative information in RealVideo clips, such as navigation points and notes.

Using Vsoft's VideoClick, RealVideo users will have the following capabilities:

-- For collaborative work, users can share the same metadata (such as
timecodes or notations), even if they use different video formats:
RealVideo, MPEG-1, or MPEG-2.

-- Any video object -- including bookmarks, hyperlinks to Web pages,
or attached documents -- can support more than one video format.

-- Bookmarks can be shared by all file formats, regardless of
bandwidth used or whether the video is streamed in RealVideo or
MPEG.

-- When a user clicks on an object, the system presents him or her
with a dialog box to select the desired bit-rate to stream based
on the network connection capability.

-- VideoClick's hallmark player functionality is supported almost in
full for video streamed in RealVideo. The same user interface is
used.

-- RealVideo files can be created during real time acquisition or
offline.
