James,

When they're writing the books about what went wrong during the 90s CNBS will figure prominently in the accurate accounts.

CNBS evolved from a financial reporting network into a showbiz and Wall St infomercial for buying the product they were selling - overvalued hype!

There will be plenty of blame to go around though.

Wall St (reckless promotion, spin, and greed), The Fed (easy money and constant bailouts), corporate America (spin, and borderline accounting fraud), the IMF (bailouts, credit rollouts etc... regardless of the long term consequences), federal government (questionable statistical changes and being bought and paid for), The Treasury Dept.(bailouts), the public (some greed and GOD didn't bless everyone equally), the press (with some exceptions - very poor research into the realities of what was going on), the monetary system (unlimited credit from thin air)

James, I think CNBC can use the Mike Tyson rape defense. "If you are too stupid to know that Mike Tyson is a violent thug and to never be alone with him, you deserve to be raped." The paraphrase would be, "if you are too stupid to know that CNBS is a pile of horse droppings, you deserve to lose all your money." Of course, if I remember correctly, Mike didn't fare too well with that argument. <G>
