>BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 2000--drugstore.com(tm) (www.drugstore.com) (Nasdaq:DSCM), the leading online retailer of health, beauty and wellness products, announced today that it has surpassed the one-millionth customer milestone. The first online drugstore to earn this distinction, drugstore.com achieved the milestone just 13 months after the launch of its site, faster than other leading e-commerce companies.

"Our customer base is now one million strong. We have a rock solid financial foundation and we are growing by the minute," said Peter Neupert, president and CEO of drugstore.com, who yesterday addressed Goldman Sachs' e-Tailing Conference in Las Vegas. "In just over a year, we have outpaced other leading Internet retailers and firmly staked our claim as the top online drugstore through our relentless focus on customer satisfaction and an unmatched shopping experience."

To arrive at this number, drugstore.com tallied the total number of all unique customers who have purchased from the online store's selection of approximately 20,000 over-the-counter products and its full-service pharmacy since its launch in February 1999. Moreover, drugstore.com announced at the end of fourth quarter 1999 that 44 percent of its orders are for repeat purchases. The company has experienced this growth in part due to its efforts to broaden its customer base and product offerings through its solid partnerships with Amazon.com, RiteAid and GNC, and its recent purchase of Beauty.com.

Today's announcement follows the company's recently completed secondary public offering, raising more than $100 million in proceeds, and last week's release of drugstore.com Version 2.0, an enhanced customer-centric site with new features, search capabilities, personalization tools and graphics.
