Jorj,
My take is there are certianly intraday opportunities to profit from what is happening, however I don't see anything out there to boost valuations anywhere near prior levels. This whole thing is still shaking out and the big picture of money flow will rule........valuation's will rule the day for the forseeable 6 months.
Lets not forget that we are in a heated economic climate. Will the fortunes of companies be better in 6 months than they are today.......I think not. This market has a lot of excess's that have yet to be resolved. I'll be a buyer when valuations dictate.
Much of the basis for buying stocks in the past year has been fueled by the economic boom we have experienced since 1996. The damage in investor sentiment that might be caused in getting the speculative excess out of the market has the prospect for putting us into a bear market for the forseeable future (6-18 months).
From a 5 year horizon I do feel we will resume a upward trend at some point, however that is based on population demographics.
Anyway now you might play the volatility, however it is too soon to put money into new long positions.
Best Regards,
Mad2
