But when trying to determine what "should" be happening on the XAU on a given day, one must also consider the possible impact of those many who are getting margins calls & having their positions in SPY's liquidated

I agree with you: The XAU looked awful today as Gold rallied over $6? What else is new? Hardly anyone is convinced that the Party is over. Hope springs eternal.

If and when the Bear arrives ( still waiting for that close below 3700 on the NDX and below 9700 on the DOW) and all these markets start going down in sync ( we got a preview today), they will make a deal with their devil: Gold.
