Optical switches are great, but not that big a deal. A lot of people are getting them confused with optical routers, which may be impossible to invent.

Most of the companies they mentioned (JDSU, RFMD, BVSN, etc.) have done well since. One topic they discussed was MEMS. They identified a few companies working with that technology (TI, ADI and Microcosm).
