Doug,

Do you really think IE would have 70% of the market share if it wasn't integrated into windows 95/98? Netscape had 90% of the share before that.

How far would you go? Would you take out the sockets libraries, the dialer, the newsgroup browser, the e-mail client? Did you find the situation in Windows 3.1 acceptable?

Would you take out the ODBC drivers, the networking components, DirectX, would you separate the kernel from the Presentation layer? Would you have a separate licensing for each component from different companies?
