The shorts wait for the fundementals to kick in and for the stocks to tank- but they don't ( notice Dell, Intel MU, etc.) Market moves too fast and irrationally (manipulatatively?). How many people have stated that they are buying puts on this thread lately? We got burned lately for being right and that has nasty effect on future decisions even if we know that many companies are hyper-evaluated or simply producing some creative accounting. In the case of others (MU, DELL) analysts quickly come to the rescue of their darlings. Thank God these are free markets (g)! The longs on the other hand are being kept in the market (unless the margin calls come in like today) by analysts, CNBS, government mouthpieces and by fake rallies like today's. They all are designed to give hope that things will turn around and that the shares one keeps will eventually go back up.
