A mo mo is a trader that plays the momentum in any stock. Up or down makes no difference. Daytraders look for stocks that have lots of swings in them combined with heavy volume that will move the price a lot.

When you see a stock making a very rapid rise, it is the buying pressure usually combined with lots of volume that is causing that to occur. That is what the mo mo's look for. They jump on, ride the motion, and then bail out. Sometimes within minutes.

Someone who would then sell his long position at what they consider the high point to be and then shorts instantly is called a swing trader. Very risky stuff for most.

Hope that helps you out a bit.
