Its not good because the dad is not given any status in the situation. The arguement for abortionists is that until the cord is cut the dad has no say. Well, this is post partum. It establishes the exclusive rights of the mother to make life determining decisions once the baby is born.

Your point is of course correct. The hype for new bills rarely reflects the true application in our lives. Remember the first small stakes gambling proposals. We just want the tourist from connecticut to be able to walk into a real old fashioned western saloon and drop down two bucks on a bet and slug down a shot of red eye; so's he can go home with a old wild west adventure tale. Chaahaaa rieeet. The Denver blue collar workers deposit a check at the casino at least once a month around here. The promoters of course new that would be the typical scenario in advance. Anyone who ever lived near a casino town knows that the big take for the casinos is in small stake gamblers who don't go home until they have an empty wallet or break the casino, which ever comes first.

My crystal ball tells me that the practical application of this new bill will not be so much for dumpster moms (a rare and sensationalized phenomenon) but it will be for mothers who might have been considering late term abortion or adoption. This too is a good thing. I am just concerned that there is nothing in the bill to protect the father's rights, to give a father some say (if he wants it) and that the hype about dumpster moms is not the real motivation behind the bill.
