Good evening Subscriber,
Here is your Money Mail for Tuesday, April 4.

THE BUZZ AT THE BELL
For a while today, it looked like the worst that could
happen was happening. This morning, the Nasdaq dropped
sickeningly, down 575 points at its extreme. At first, the
Dow rose 196 points, but then it too got caught in the
the sell-off and dropped 504 points. Suddenly, at about
2:00 p.m., stocks began a slow but determined recovery.
The Nasdaq finished down 75 on record trading volume.
And the Dow, which had dived 700 points from its highest
point to its lowest (the index's largest point swing
ever), closed down 56 on record volume. Whew.
"Volatility" doesn't quite describe what felt like a
near-death experience.

STOCKS
* Portfolio Tracker: What Now? *
The Nasdaq's nosedive and the guilty verdict in the
Microsoft antitrust case has made Al Kugel, Senior
Investment Strategist at Stein Roe & Farnham, cautious on
technology. "I think the Microsoft thing will continue to
drag the techs down for the next several months," he says.
In the meantime he likes companies which have good growth.

Regardless of the final outcome of Microsoft's landmark
antitrust trial, the competitive landscape in the computer

off? All these allegations technically are not warranted.
What ever the DOJ pays him, it's too much. I guess the

due to his arrogance and wallet he didn't. So we all

Tax selling? Margin calls? Still have your day job?...

These last 10 days have been sickening. It has also motivated me to start working harder at my day job which is commission that I had been neglecting when the market was very hot. A true reality wake up call.

With the huge amounts made by people last year I'm hoping this volatility is due to tax selling. People have to sell to pay their capital gains.

I think most of us have been getting hammered. What I don't like reading by a few today is what damn geniuses they are and how much money they made today. Lol Does the word humility ring a bell?
