There was an excellent discussion of the interest rate overhang at the street.com several days ago. I believe the reasonable comparison was in 1994 where able leader followed up a number of 25 basis point hikes by a 50 bagger, followed by another 50 bagger followed by GASP a 75 bagger. Rather an entertaining possibility n'est pas? I think that this is a far more important consideration then much of what we often concern ourselves with from day to day. If this happens the margin cowboys/cowgirls will be on the most endangered list and I guess that Alan might actually smile.

That can encumber margin more than many understand. Easier said than done, IMHO.

I'm not questioning the ability of those in the know on this thread to successfully deploy this strategy. I am just concerned for those who may be lurking without being fully educated.

Regards,

LoF

Unless we recover to former highs I cannot imagine AG will raise 50 in May.

I now think my joking conspiracy theory that I posted over on Voltaire's porch a few days ago must be true! I supposed that Abby and Greenie were lovers and their pillow talk was a bit competitive and each claimed they could bring the NAZ down faster than the other. So Abby shaved her portfolio by a mere 5% and that started the tumble...of course she was aided and abetted by institutions profit-taking end of quarter window dressing...by MSFT spin...and of course, the margin calls of unfortunate individual investors. Nonetheless, she has achieved her goal. Greenie must be humbled, and/or pleased. Maybe Abby has done the country a favor. Maybe Greenie will back off.
