I know I've mentioned this before,
but I still believe that the fact that
this is an election year will have an
impact.

The Administration needs the economy to be
strong and for people to perceive it as strong.
Part of that perception comes from a robust
market. Call it the wealth effect or whatever,
but the fact is that the mom and pops of the
world have gotten used to their nest eggs growing
with this bull market. If confidence is lost,
so will be the perception of prosperity.

Since the Administration wants Gore to win,
they had better make sure the economic atmosphere
feels right. Clinton clobbered Bush with the
economy....it could happen here.

So, I think the brakes will be put on Uncle Al
not to upset the apple cart too much and other
behind the scenes manipulations would not be unlikely.

It's politics, pure and simple....
